We are proud that we meet the standards to be accredited by the American Camp Association.

  • Accredited camps undergo an extensive evaluation every three years and agree to a rigorous appraisal of policies and best practices.
  • The process also educates camp owners and directors in the administration of key aspects of camp operation, program quality, and the health and safety of campers and staff.
  • Establishes guidelines for needed policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Assists the public in selecting camps that meet industry-accepted and government-recognized standards.

Forest and Indian Acres are also members of the Maine Youth Camping Association.

Neal Waldman is also a founding member of the Student and Youth Travel Association and its fourth president.  He also served as chairman of the SYTA Youth Foundation, helping to provide programs for disadvantaged youth.  We remain committed and supported to SYTA as allied members.

We support the remarkable Eastern Horizons Foundation and Ari Lurie.  Ari's hard work make it possible for many children to attend camp.  Ari's kids, as we call them, have flourished at camp as team captains, leaders, and have displayed amazing growth overall.  Please check out their website at easternhorizons.org to support this cause.
